    Little Girls in Summer Dresses

It's summer time, and the living is easy.

I love going to the beach with my daughters, and watching them run barefoot in the sand. Twirling in their summer dresses, I feel so blessed. And the next day, they insist on wearing their summer sun dress again, as they feel so cool, comfortable and magical on them.

Love these little girl sun dresses so much, that I built a whole new website to show case them, http://www.RecurrentDreamsBaby.com (link). They are handcrafted in Long Beach, California, exclusively for us at www.RecurrentDreams.com, and come in 5 whimsical summer prints. View these timeless classics at our new speciality site, www.RecurrentDreamsBaby.com, or at our main webpage, www.RecurrentDreams.com. Have a wonderful summer, full of memories to last a lifetime!

    Bees Knees

"Why didn't I think of that!" is everyone's comment when they see these pants on display at our Long Beach shop.

My mother discovered these pants at a children's show in Toronto, and promptly emailed me in California, about this great invention. And guess what, Mothers do know best!

In fact, these pants where designed by a Mompreneur, Tammany Atkinson, from Mississauga, Canada. She was crawling around on her tile floor with her young son when she realized how sore it made her knees. She searched for a product that would help protect a baby's delicate knees from the scrapes and bruises that come with crawling on hard surfaces, but when she realized there was nothing available, she decided to invent it. Her company, Bee's Knees, makes baby pants with padded knees.

These high performance crawler pants are both stylish & comfortable, available in pink, khaki & denim. With reinforced crawler kneepads, an elastic waistband, and a roomy fit, they come in sizes 6/12 mths & 12/18 mths.

A portion of the proceeds are donated to The Learning to Listen Foundation, teaching children who are deaf how to hear, listen, talk and sing through Auditory Verbal Therapy.

Now available at our online store, at www.RecurrentDreams.com. Link to product: http://estore.websitepros.com/805672/Detail.bok?no=136

    Lemon Drops

Refreshing Lemon Drops for Summer. Love the retro print, kind of early 70's Goldie Hawn's style. Ja Ja Babywear's fashions are trendy yet classic, using vintage prints on classic styles. Very hip, in fact they have been selling like hotcakes in the trendier boutiques on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood. But, hey, Long Beach is hip and happening too. After all, we have Ja Ja Babywear at Recurrent Dreams!

Visit our Online boutique to see the Classic Button Down Little Boy's Shirt and Little Girl's Halter Dress. Love the Lemon Drop print! http://www.RecurrentDreams.com

    Nostalgic in California

When shopping for my children's boutique, Recurrent Dreams, I always seem to revert back to my mother's instinct. Once I decided on our spring look, "Nostalgic Beach Living", the rest seemed to fall in place. Let me share with you, my mother's instinct criteria:

Comfort: too many times my children have complained that the beautiful dress I had bought them was too itchy & confining!

Emotion: call me sentimental, but it makes my heart sing to see my children dressed for Easter.

Quality, Uniqueness and Price: I would rather pay a little bit more, and have something that does not fall apart after the 3rd washing, however there is a limit on how much I will pay.

This spring, I was blessed to find all my criteria met from small California companies, such us Kumquat, Nobody's Business, Reflectionz, and Barefoot Dreams (although they are not so small since Oprah discovered them!). I invite you to post, your Mother's Instinct list too.

    Cakes Made with Love

I first met Sylvia about 6 years ago, at work (pre Recurrent Dreams). Soon we became friends, and I came to know her as a very spiritual positive person. One day she brought a wonderful cake in for a co-worker's birthday. Much to my admiration, she told me that she had baked it herself. As a hobby, she had been taking cake decorating classes, and she loved it!

Well her love for baking developed into a passion, and shortly after she was making cakes for her family & friends, and their family & friends . . . & naturally for all our fairy events and birthday parties at Recurrent Dreams. If you ask Sylvia what makes her cakes so incredible, she simply says "They're made with Love".

Well, she is going to take a leap in faith, and open her own storefront in Downey, California! The name of her shop will be "Made with Love". She will continue baking & decorating cakes (& delivering them too), but will also be teaching classes and selling baking supplies, so you can create your own edible masterpiece! I wish her well, as she builds her dreams.

To contact "Made with Love', you can email Sylvia at smedina791@aol.com

    Dream Wish Baby . . . Naturally

"I promise the ocean . . you will hear the beating of it's heart against the shores. I promise the forests . . you will share the whispers of their pines."

These inspiration words from Lisa Humphrey's book, "A Mother's Promise", got me thinking. Like all parents, I am concerned about the safety of children in today's world; and the condition of our planet for our children's children. I had heard of natural baby products . . but wasn't sure if it made a difference. A few google searches later, I became a believer. One thing lead to another, and to another, and so my natural baby venture began. My new site www.DreamWishBaby.com is dedicated to a baby's seventh sense, purity. Join me, in honoring "A Mother's Promise", the spirit within us all.

It's funny how one book can be so inspiring. Now that's a gift of reading! Thank you Lisa (and David Danioth, illustrator, too).

    Over the Rainbow

The Wizard of Oz is one of those movies! My mother remembers when it was first released, and whenever it played on television (in the sixties), she would let us stay up late and make us cinnamon toast. And my two girls . . . Halloween . . . Ruby Red Slippers . . . sound familiar? We all have our Dorothy memories, yet somehow I wonder why our family pet is a Cairn Terrier? So of course I had to get the whole line of Cuddle Factory's Wizard of Oz Beanie Characters for the shop. How could I choose between Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, Lion, and Glenda? For all us OZ fans, follow the yellow brick road to our store link Recurrent Dreams : http://estore.websitepros.com/805672/Detail.bok?no=93

    Not so Desperate Housewives

I am always excited, when I get a new item in the shop. Especially when it's an asian inspired brocade "Kecci's Shanghai Mommy Bag"! It is similar to Petunia Pickle Bottoms, the celebrity status diaper bag, but a fraction of the price, at $58! Lynette (Desperate Housewives) can keep her $150 Petunia Pickle Bottom Bag. Life is different away from Wisteria Lane, but if Gabrielle saw our Shanghai Bag she would definitely use it as a yoga / spa bag. Then she would treat herself to a facial! View it my online store, Recurrent Dreams. http://estore.websitepros.com/805672/Detail.bok?no=72

Wee will Wee will Rock You!

This week, a “Cool” dad came in the shop with a very busy little boy. I was not surprised when I discovered that he was a musician. Well, come to find out, he had just released a Children’s CD, called “Wee Rock"! Of course I was dying to hear it, so being the cool dude that he was, he gave me a complimentary copy. I played it all afternoon, and discovered, not only did I enjoy it, but the children that came in the shop loved it. Two days later, I had it on my front counter, as our hot new item. "Wee Rock" is the creation of husband and wife team Greg and Erin Paxton. They live locally, in Long Beach, with their son, Jonathan, whose antics were their inspiration. It is on sale now at Recurrent Dreams for $12.99 (regular $16.99). Songs include, “Runny Nose Bunny”, “Hey Daddy!”, “My Tea Party”, Silly Sammy”, and more. It is not available on our online store yet http://www.RecurrentDreams.com, however, just call us, and we will ship it to you. 562-597-8500. If you have heard it, I would love to read your comments.

    Through the Looking Glass

Okay . . . so I aspire to be like Alice in Wonderland. Let me clarify this statement, so you don't think that I am from the sixties acid generation. When I read Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" and "Alice Through the Looking Glass", I see Alice as a curious child on an imaginative adventure, meeting a cast of whimsical characters along the way. That is MY ALICE! Well . . . I just finished reading a bazaar review stating that some view "Alice in Wonderland" as a metaphor for the bodily mutations of female puberty, or as a covert paean to hallucinogenic drug abuse! I THINK NOT!. For me, both books are fascinating timeless literature of a child's sense of wonderment. So there Grace Slick! Actually I love Jefferson Airplane. Anyways, the latest edition, of "Alice Through the Looking Glass", illustrated by Helen Oxenbury, has beautiful sepia-toned illustrations and full-color paintings! They read at a third grade level, perfect for my two girls ages 8 & 11. I fully recommend re-reading these latest editions with your children. View it on my online store at http://estore.websitepros.com/805672/Detail.bok?no=115 . P.S. I posted some editorial reviews, under comments.

    Fireflies and Fairies

Did you know that every time you see a firefly, a pixie fairy has earned her wings? So says Fairy Fiona, resident fairy at "Recurrent Dreams". And she should know, coming from the Enchanted Garden and all. Fairy Fiona . . what can I say . . she loves tea parties . . and telling stories . . and making little girl's wishes come true! I have gotten to know her very well , because I am the shopkeeper at Recurrent Dreams. You see, one starry evening, just before closing, Fiona fluttered in, needing a new wand. She was so impressed with our fairy finery, she asked "Can I come back and share my stories with the children?" "Of course" I exclaimed, "We will hold Fairy Tea Time every Saturday, and have parties on Sundays!" That was over a year ago now, and I have become quite an authority on fairies and tea parties since then. What fun! To learn more about our Fairy Tea Parties, visit our site at http://www.recurrentdreams.com.
